My path to Own Path
Hi there! Welcome to Own Path Mental Health.
If you're constantly on edge, mentally exhausted, stuck in your own head, or just feeling like something needs to change, finding the right person to talk to can be a good place to start.
My path here has not exactly been a straight line. I have worked in the military, public health and harm reduction, primary care, and gender-affirming care. Those experiences have shaped how I practice today: warm, collaborative, and focused on the whole person rather than just a diagnosis.

Military Service & Military Families
I started my nursing career as an Army Nurse Corps officer and deployed overseas twice. I have also experienced military life as a military spouse, so I understand the culture from more than one perspective.
Deployments and redeployments, PCS moves, family separations, career disruptions, and transitioning out of the military can affect you in ways that do not always fit neatly into a diagnosis. My background does not mean I will assume I know your experience. It does mean you probably will not have to spend half the appointment explaining the military part before we can talk about you.
Harm Reduction & Recovery
Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I worked in public health, harm reduction, and drug policy reform. My work included overdose-prevention advocacy and speaking about harm reduction and drug policy at conferences, including South by Southwest.
That experience still influences how I approach people in recovery. I believe in meeting people where they are. Recovery is not always linear, and substance use is something you experience, not who you are. My role is not to lecture you about your choices. It is to understand what is happening, reduce risk, and help you make informed decisions about your health.
LGBTQIA+ & Gender-Affirming Care
My primary care background includes gender-affirming care and caring for the LGBTQIA+ community. I know healthcare can feel very different when you are wondering whether you will be judged, whether your provider understands your care, or whether you will have to explain your identity before you can even talk about why you are there.
You do not need to justify who you are here. Your identity is part of understanding you as a whole person, but it does not have to become the focus of every appointment.
How I Practice
I work with adults across Pennsylvania who are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, concentration concerns, and recovery, with particular experience working with veterans and military families, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and people affected by substance use or recovery.
Because I am trained in both primary care and psychiatry, I tend to look at the bigger picture. Mental and physical health do not operate independently, and not every difficult emotion or hard season of life automatically needs another prescription.
Working with me is collaborative, personalized, and affirming. We will talk about what is getting in your way, what treatment options make sense, and build a plan that fits your life and values. I bring the clinical knowledge and you bring the expertise on your own life.
I currently offer online appointments throughout Pennsylvania, with in-person appointments pending.
